The US will consume more than 500 million ink cartridges this year alone - 80% of those being brand-name cartridges purchased from big box retail stores like Staples and Office Depot. The greenhouse gas emissions created from hundreds of thousands of drives to the store are enormous, let alone the natural resources and fossil fuels used in making new plastics and new packaging for these products. Get proactive. Next time you run dry have your existing cartridge refilled – you’ll save money and be doing something great for the environment to boot. And if you’re really on top of your game, keep a spare cartridge on hand - this will prevent an extra trip to the store not to mention the dreaded “inkmergency”!
